Minutes of Meeting
1. From the video we had a chance to see how demanding it is to construct the Beijing Olympic steel structure is.
2. The project is both design and labor intensive.
3. While in construction, one must consider all the factors that affect the work (i.e. weather, location, materials, etc...)
4. It’s very important to stay on schedule.
5. For our project site selection, many projects were discussed during the meeting such as: Randall's Island, Flushing Meadows Park, Orchard Park, Governors Island, West Side Rail Yards, Brooklyn Navy Yard, Floyd Bennett Field, and Fresh Kills.
6. The students have decided to go with Flushing Meadows Park, Queens. This will involve a stadium redesign to meet Olympic Standards, as well as neighborhood redevelopment for the Olympic village.
For next Meeting
All the student must be prepared for the next meeting (1/19/2008). Below is a list of what you need to bring with you to the meeting.
1. One page Memo Format letter summarizing the Beijing Olympic Stadium video we have watch over the past 3 meetings.
2. Flushing Meadows project site research i.e. site area, neighborhood, existing facilities.
3. Aerial maps of the site.
4. Images, sketches of facilities, venues, etc...
